Vinegar: The Simple Solution
Hardwood floor cleaners can make their hardwood floors sparkle with vinegar and warm water. The first step is to simply sweep the floor. Make sure all debris, dust mites, food, and other items are swept up. If there is anything sticking to the floor such as gum or glue, carefully remove it without scraping the floor’s surface. Next take a bucket and pour about a half of cup of white vinegar inside. After you have poured the white vinegar, mix in a gallon of water. Pick up your mop, dip it in the vinegar mixture and start mopping.
Oil for Older Floors
If cleaning older hardwood floors, use oil. First, make or purchase as many clean rags as you can. Make sure you use rags that won’t scratch the floor. Next, purchase a quality cleaning oil. Sweep the floors thoroughly. After sweeping, apply a little oil to the rag and begin gently buffing the floor. When the oil has become soiled with dirt, use another rag. Continue the process until the entire floor is clean.
